Our 3 bedroom gîte is situated in the centre of the ancient Occitaine village of Fa. The gîte is close to the River Faby, a tributary of the Aude and it is an easy walk to the village café and the newly restored village church. On top of the hill behind the village sits the ruins of the Visigoth settlement, the tower now the only part remaining.
Although there are no shops in Fa itself the village is served by a daily bread/patisserie van and a grocery van, fish mongers and butchers vans throughout the week. Bread can also be ordered at the Café de la Tour for collection each day if preferred. Katherine, the owner, speaks good English and is very helpful and friendly.
Fa is only 2km from the busy little town of Esperaza, which has shops, banks, a post office, supermarket etc and a splendid Sunday Market attracting people from all over the area with a wide variety of local produce, stalls and local artists displaying their works.
Only 9km away is the world famous Rennes le Chateau attracting thousands of hopeful treasure seekers every year, now made more popular by the best selling book 'The Da Vinci Code'. In fact being only 2 hours from Andorra we are deep in Da Vinci Code country here.
With all this history mystery and beautiful scenery you cannot fail to enjoy a stay at Fa!
